Compared with railways, roads, airways, waterways and other modes of transport, pipeline transport has the characteristics of low cost, large capacity, small area, short construction period and high degree of automation, so it plays a very important role.
Pipeline can not only transport oil, water, natural gas, gas such as gas, liquid, but also transport municipal waste, industrial raw materials, food such as solid bulk materials.
Early transport pipelines were mainly made of concrete and metal materials. Concrete has good resistance to permeability, but it is self-sustaining, brittle and prone to damage along with land settlement.
The metal pipeline mainly cast iron and stainless steel, cast iron pipeline pressure resistance is weak, and easy to rust; and stainless steel pipeline cost is high, the material is hard on-site processing difficulties.
Plastic pipes, especially HDPE, are low-cost, corrosion-resistant, non-leakage, lightweight and easy to construct.
