During a recent factory visit, we completed a new set of on-site photos for the Gruvmaster AG-8Z automatic hydraulic roll grooving machine.
These images are not intended to highlight cosmetic changes, but to reflect the machine’s current configuration after a series of practical upgrades. Based on long-term operating feedback, the AG-8Z has now evolved into its second-generation version.
AG-8Z is one of the more established models in our automatic roll grooving lineup. It has been widely used in the domestic market, where demand remains consistently strong. As usage frequency increased, requirements related to durability, mobility, and ease of operation became more apparent—these real working conditions directly guided the development of the second-generation design.
Positioning of the AG-8Z
The AG-8Z is an electric hydraulic automatic roll grooving machine, primarily intended for batch grooving of steel pipes.
Its standard working range covers 2"–12", with the option to extend capacity up to 16" when needed.
Typical applications include:
· Batch pipe prefabrication
· Projects requiring consistent groove depth and quality
· Long-duration, continuous grooving work
From the beginning, the design focus of the AG-8Z has been simple: deliver stable, repeatable grooving results without unnecessary complexity.
Why the Second-Generation AG-8Z Was Introduced
The first-generation AG-8Z was already a complete and functional automatic grooving solution.
However, prolonged use in high-frequency working environments revealed several areas where further optimization would be beneficial:
· Greater hydraulic stability during extended operating cycles
· Easier movement and positioning on job sites
· A clearer reference for setting and repeating groove depth
Rather than redesigning the machine entirely, the second-generation AG-8Z concentrates on targeted structural improvements, while retaining the proven operating logic of the original model.
Key Improvements in the Second-Generation AG-8Z
Hydraulic System Optimized for Continuous Use
The hydraulic system has been redesigned to better support long working hours. This improvement enhances overall operational stability and is especially suitable for high-duty applications.
Improved Mobility and Structural Stability
Compared with the previous version, the machine body is slightly wider and the base wheel configuration has been updated.
Two telescopic push handles have been added, allowing easier movement when relocating the machine, while maintaining stable support during operation.
Expanded Pipe Size Coverage
The standard grooving range remains 2"–12", with optional expansion up to 16", enabling the AG-8Z to meet a broader range of project requirements.
Wireless Remote Control Option
In addition to the original control method, the second-generation AG-8Z introduces a wireless remote control. This provides added flexibility in certain working conditions and can help reduce unnecessary movement during operation.
Depth Adjustment Screw with Scale
A clear scale has been added to the depth adjustment screw, making it easier to record, repeat, and standardize groove depth settings—particularly useful in batch production or multi-operator environments.
