On a
butt fusion machine, the hydraulic power unit (HPU) is not always the first component people focus on.
But in actual operation, it is involved in almost every key step — from facing and alignment to pressure control during welding.
With the FX series, we didn’t adjust the existing system step by step.
We approached it differently and redesigned it as a whole.
The FX Gen 2 HPU reflects this change — in its structure, in how control is handled, and in how the operator works with the machine.
Different Stages, Different Control
On many machines, one hydraulic control logic is used throughout the entire process.
In practice, however, facing, alignment, and welding place different demands on pressure and movement.
With the FX Gen 2 HPU, these stages are handled separately.
During facing, the movement is kept smooth and steady, avoiding sudden changes.
During welding, pressure builds in a more controlled way, making it easier to stop at the required point.
It’s not just a matter of adjustment, but a different way of managing each step.
Operation Closer to the Pipe
The Gen 2 HPU uses a remote control system.
More importantly, it changes where the operator stands.
Instead of working at the hydraulic unit and looking back at the machine,
the operator can stay next to the frame, observing pipe alignment, surface condition, and bead formation while operating at the same time.
Control and observation happen together.
This becomes particularly useful during facing, alignment, and pressure application.
A More Integrated Structure
The FX Gen 2 HPU introduces a new layout, along with the updated white-and-blue design.
The change is not only visual.
The internal structure has been reorganized to be more compact and more consistent.
Rather than a combination of separate parts, the system feels more integrated.
In daily use, this makes operation more straightforward and reduces unnecessary steps.
The Gen 2 HPU is not built around adding more features.
It is based on a different way of organizing the process:
· Control is adapted to each stage
· Operation is positioned closer to the pipe
· The structure is simplified and clarified
The result is a system that is easier to follow and more stable in use.
